Janos Kardos

(11/30/2018)

age 72, of Ramsey, New Jersey passed away peacefully in his home on November 30, 2018. Born in Budapest, Hungary, he was an adoring husband to his late wife Maria (née Szlatki), a committed father to his son Jonathan, loving grandfather to his grandson Jackson, the son of Károly and Judit, and brother of Karl and late sister Judit.

Janos was committed to living a life that he loved-one of adventure, happiness, excitement, and self-expression. He approached every moment of every day with joy and passion, and spent time understanding and developing authentic relationships with all around him.

Janos’ love and lust for life radiated from his presence and impacted the lives of everyone he met-from his closest friends and family, to strangers he encountered as he traveled and lived across Hungary, Italy, Sweden, Germany, Venezuela, the United States, and elsewhere. Janos loved people and understanding their motivations and desires. He naturally connected with all he encountered, and encouraged everyone to understand that life is precious and should be lived to its fullest and with great enjoyment.

Janos communicated his passion for life through his artwork. He made his livelihood as an entrepreneur around his love and talent for art-building himself into an accomplished and celebrated artist whose work adorns the homes and offices of family, friends, celebrities, politicians and collectors across the globe.

Janos is survived by his beloved son Jonathan, daughter-in-law Cheryl, grandson Jackson, brother Karl, nieces Emma and Katarina, nephew Anton, sisters-in-law Gitta and Margareta, brother-in-law Joe, and many other loving relatives in the United States and abroad.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, December 7 at Vander Plaat Memorial Home in Paramus, New Jersey from 2-4pm and 7-9pm, with a celebration of life service beginning at 8pm. Flowers may be sent to Vander Plaat Memorial Home.

Janos, I never met anyone with a more positive attitude and stance on life than you. Wherever we were you always managed to expose the beauty of any situation. You will be missed, love you. Rest peacefully!

Janos and Maria gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, Jonathan. And through the years, Jonathan grew to be a most wonderful man. I am certain Janos and Maria will continue to love him and send him blessings from heaven as they did on earth. I was fortunate to be with Janos for his last Thanksgiving this past November 2018. I have never seen him happier. He was proud of his son, his sister-in-law and full of love and joy for his grandson and he was also so enjoying the food and drink abundantly served by his sister and brother in law, Gitta and Joe. Love to Janos and Maria in heaven. Love, Aunt Marta

What a lovely tribute to an incredible sounding man. It does not surprise me that Janos' love of life and people have trickled down into similar qualities in his son. Jonathan, your Fidelity family is here for you. We love you, and we are sending our deepest condolence on the painful loss of your father.

Janos, I keep waiting for my phone to ring. As always, you would say:" Hi, this is Janos Kardos the artist. Do you remember me?"... Janos, I have known you for 49 years. I will never forget you. I so hope you are with Maria (Kutyi) now, forever!

You may be gone, but you will not be forgotten. We will wake up every day with your reminders of how precious life is, and that every day should be the best day of our lives. We can't wait to share this with Jackson, and support him in creating a life for himself that he loves. We love you Janos.

János was a friend of mine. First I loved him because he made Maria happy and that was good enough for me. Later I got to know who he really was and I loved him for his own merits. Over the years we have had many meaningful conversations that steered me the righ way. He had the ability to focus on the positive and give power to make changes. He is sadly missed and lovingly remembered. Rest in peace, my friend!
