Joseph Bosticco

76, of Paramus passed away on Tuesday February 23, 2010. Formerly of Queens, NY, he has lived in Paramus since 1970. Prior to retiring he had worked for Merrill Lynch for 46 years. Joseph was a devout catholic and a very active member of Our Lady of the Visitation RC Church. He had been a Eucharistic Minister at both the church and the New Jersey Veteran Home in Paramus and was also a volunteer at their bingo games for many years. He was a member and President of the Parent Faculty Organization at OLV and was also President of their Holy Name Society. He served three years as a military policeman in the Army, during the end of the Korean War.

Joseph was a 37 year member of the Paramus-based Father Washington Post of the Catholic War Veterans. In 1976, Joseph established an MIA week in Paramus by proclamation of the Town Council. He was inducted into the CWV Hall of Fame in 2003 and in October 2009 he was honored with the St. Sebastian award for his lifetime of achievements. He was a past Commander and an active member of the CWV Post #1710, spending 21 years as the Color Guard Captain. Joseph was the current Treasurer for CWV Bergen County Chapter. As a member of the Father Charles J. Watters Council 5680 of the Knights of Columbus, he had previously served as Grand Knight.

Devoted father of Karen and her husband Vito Fiorino of Glen Rock, Joseph and his wife Anne of Paramus, David and his wife Beth of Mahwah, and Diane and her husband Brian D’Errico of St. Augustine, FL. Loving grandfather of Michael, David, Sarah, Larissa, Kayla, Jenna, Nicholas, Riley, Olivia, and Brian. Dear Brother of Patricia Cosgrove of Queens, NY and the late George Bosticco (2009).

Funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Our Lady of the Visistation RC Church, Paramus.
Interment George Washington Memorial Park.
Family will receive friends on Friday, February 26, 2010 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, S-113 Farview Avenue, Paramus.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made in Joseph’s memory to the Valley Hospice, 15 Essex Road, Paramus, NJ 07652 or St. Jude’s Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
