Martin De Boer
of North Haledon passed away peacefully on May 10, 2009. He was 93 years old. Mr. De Boer was born in Prospect Park and had lived in Wayne, N.J., Sunapee, New Hampshire, Melbourne, Florida, and Midland Park before moving to North Haledon, as a resident of the Holland Christian Home. Prior to retiring he was a wholesale bakery driver with Lazarra Bakery in Paterson. He was a member of the Sixth Reformed Church in North Haledon and was a former president of their Eastern Christian School Booster Club. Martin was an avid fisherman.
Beloved husband of the late Geraldine (nee Lamring) 2004 and his first wife the late Anna (nee De Graff) 1952. Devoted father of Robert De Boer and his wife Geraldine Jansen De Boer of Chatham, MA. Loving grandfather of Kristin Ann De Boer and her husband Thomas Hartman of Pelham, MA, Karen Lee Gale and her husband Christopher Gale of Valhalla, N.Y., and great grandfather of Johanna and Pieter Hartman of Pelham, MA. He is also survived by his dear sister Gertrude Hagedoorn of Wyckoff. He was predeceased by his brother John and his sister Sadie, both formerly of Wayne, N.J.
Funeral service at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at the Holland Christian Home, 151 Graham Avenue, North Haledon. Interment Laurel Grove Memorial Park. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Vander Plaat Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes and Thursday, May 13, 2009 from 9-10 a.m. prior to the service at the Holland Christian Home.
